It is used to determine the purity of water, and gives an idea of how much salt is dissolved in the solution.
It is also a convenient digital thermometer for measuring or calibrating the temperature of your tank.
Because dissolved ionized solids, such as salts and minerals, contribute to the conductivity of the solution,
The TDS meter measures the conductivity of the solution, which is then converted to a TDS value and displayed in ppm (parts per million)
TDS is directly related to water quality, that is, the lower the TDS value, the cleaner the water.
For example, purified reverse osmosis water will have a TDS from 0 to 10,
while tap water will vary from 20 to 300.
