Perlite is a heat-treated volcanic rock that is free of bacteria, mold and other seeds, a very light, white, clean and neutral natural material that provides plants with an airy and moist growth environment. As it is a porous substance, its water capacity is over 90%. Perlite has a wide range of uses, it is simply used as a substrate (for example under fungal cakes and otherwise for plants that are transported because weight also determines the cost of transport), in different substrate mixtures (soil, peat and coconut) as it provides good aeration and moisture this prevents the formation of all kinds of molds and harmful bacteria.
