Trichoderma is a bacteria that lives in soil, coconut fibre or similar growing substrates. It causes the decomposition of organic matter and facilitates the diffusion of mineral salts into the substrate. This process of decomposition and release of nutrients is fundamental in organic cultivation, and indispensable in hydroponics based on biological nutrients (known as «bioponics»).

In addition to stimulating plant growth, the microorganisms inhibit or destroy pathogens in the growing medium that pose a risk to the plants.
